A Food Advice Podcast
Where the Pickles & Slaw are Always Free
Ever since 2012, our phone line has been ringing (quite literally) with questions from folks from around the world:
If I’m making gefilte fish, can I avoid a smelly house?
My grandmother always made a dish like [FILL IN THE BLANK]. Every heard of it? Got a recipe?
Why does my challah always seem to come out raw?
We’ve dubbed this phenomenon, the Gefilte Hotline. And now, after all these years, we’re making it official. Through a partnership with the relaunched Heeb Media, we’re proud to share Meet Me at the Deli, an advice podcast about cooking and eating, while Jewish.
Leading the Jewish Food Revival
Our Story
We were friends in the food world and we heard the call. Jewish delis were closing. Our grandparents were getting too old to cook. Ashkenazi cuisine was perceived as a thing of the past, if perceived as a cuisine at all. It felt like something big was at stake. We wrote a manifesto, rolled up our sleeves, began cooking, writing, and sharing our passion for the foods of our heritage, and have never looked back.
The Gefilte Manifesto
In our award-winning cookbook, we explore the culture and the history of our culinary heritage.
“The Gefilte Manifesto is a comprehensive guide to contemporary Jewish cooking complete with sharp writing, beautiful photography, and robust flavor. Jeffrey and Liz have figured out how to take Bubbe’s cooking and pass the baton to the modern-day cook.”
―Michael Solomonov, James Beard Award-Winning Chef of Zahav
Events & Collabs
We partner with companies and communities to create meaningful programs to explore the breadth and depth of Jewish food. Whether planning conferences, pop-ups, or corporate retreats, we bring culinary know-how and creativity. And our hands-on experiences are as fun as they are informative.
